Kyle grew up in De Pere, Wisconsin and played baseball for West De Pere. He was a three-year starter for West De Pere along with being first-team all-conference his final two years. He helped lead the team to 3 consecutive conference championships from 2015-2017. He also helped bring West De Pere to consecutive sectional finals in 2015 and 2016.

Kyle went on to play collegiate baseball at Winona State University. He played 3 years at Winona State before transferring to Concordia University Wisconsin for his final 2 years. As an everyday starter, he was nominated as an all-conference catcher at Concordia.

Kyle gained valuable coaching experience while at Concordia as the active catching coach while still playing.
